Frequently Asked Questions

New patients must bring identification and insurance information. If the patient is under 18, a legal guardian must be present.

You will receive a link through text or email several days before your appointment to complete your online paperwork. If the forms are complete when you arrive, then you will only need to be here 10-15 minutes early. If the forms are not completed, please arrive 30-45 minutes early.

If you are a new patient and you completed the patient forms prior to your arrival, then you will only need to be here 10-15 minutes early. If you have not completed the forms, please arrive 30-45 minutes early.

Wear loose fitting clothing; the doctor must be able to examine the area without restriction.

If you are having a procedure, please plan to bring a companion with you as you may not be able to drive.

Bring a detailed list of medications, past medical history, doctor’s notes, x-rays, and MRIs.

Notify the office prior to your next schedule visit.

Yes, you are responsible for co-pays and deductibles.

Many of our physicians work as a team with a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). In order to properly diagnose orthopedic injuries, we need updated imaging and diagnostic tests. In many circumstances, the PA or ARNP will see you for your first visit to order these tests and formulate a treatment plan with your physician.

Use ice for 10-15 minutes to relieve pain and to keep the swelling down.

You would only use heat for 10-15 minutes when the injury is no longer acute. Heat helps to restore range of motion and decrease soft tissue stiffness.

Maybe. Your provider will make a decision on whether a cast or a splint is the best for you. Severe fractures may require surgery.

We have X-Ray at all 3 Coastal Orthopedics offices that can be taken at the time of your appointment. We have MRI at our East Bradenton and West Bradenton offices, which require a separate appointment.

It is a good possibility that you may need restorative therapies. Coastal Orthopedics has physical and occupational therapy at all three of our locations.
