I saw Dr. Lamar after a year of pain and increased difficulty in walking. He replaced my right hip in Nov 2012 then my left in Jan 2014. I have had absolutely no problems since, my walk is back to “normal” after the surgeries and the follow-ups with Dr. Lamar, Jason, and staff made all difference. I would and have recommended them to many people in need! They are “the best!”

Staff is friendly and helpful. Just had my 2nd knee replacement with Dr. Lamar. He is confident and considerate, takes time to explain things clearly, has a great sense of humor, helps patients to understand their role in healing as well as his.

He did a great job with my hip replacement almost 7 years ago. I volunteer in ortho on 3 main at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and all his patients have nothing but good words for him.
I recently had a total hip replacement by Dr.Lamar. I had gone to Dr. Lamar earlier in the year with a sore hip. He was attentive, professional, and conscientious throughout the entire process of diagnosis, treatment, and eventually surgery. Coastal Orthopedics also was attentive and available throughout the treatments, through surgery, and afterwards, excellent physical therapy. I highly recommend Dr.Lamar and Coastal Orthopedics.

Fantastic surgeon. Caring and takes the time needed to help. His office is efficient. Very little wait time. He works with Dr Ghett a pain management doctor. There is a physical therapy facility on site that works closely with Dr Lamar. Jason is his assistant and works very closely with Dr Lamar. The entire team works to get you back to where you want to be as quickly as possible. I found Lakewood Ranch Hospital to be excellent too. All working together to getting me better and back on my feet.

I had a partial knee replacement done in 2014. The skill of this surgeon is second to none, and the staff at Lakewood Ranch Medical were excellent. Couldn’t have asked for more.
Dr. Lamar and his Staff are exceptional. Jason is awesome, as well.
Dr. Lamar is a personable and skilled surgeon. He takes considerable time on the front end to discuss the situation, present options , and recommends surgery only if conditions warrant. He requires extra attention before surgery to minimize the chance of infection and post operative problems. His follow up process with himself and his excellent PA is excellent.

Dr Lamar performed total left hip replacement surgery on me 5 years ago and it was a complete success, so much so that I vounteer at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center assisting his knee and hip replacement patients with physical therapy. He is highly recommended.
From day one, Dr. Lamar has been very patient and super kind and an excellent listener. He also has a great sense of humor.

All of my experiences with Coastal Orthopedics have been excellent. There is not one person I have come in contact with who was unpleasant or unprofessional. I highly recommend Dr. Lamar and Coastal Orthopedics.

After having had 2 recent arthroscopies for torn meniscus and joint injections for severe osteoarthritis, an anesthesiologist friend of mine recommended I be seen by “the best, an expert in the field”. He suggested I see the sports doctors for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I googled it and came across Coastal Orthopedics and Dr. Lamar. I read it and was immediately impressed by his biography and other patients’ comments. I was able to get an appointment right away. After taking an x-ray he explained I needed a total knee replacement. I am a nurse with 30 yrs experience and often have a hard time giving up control of my own health to other health care providers. However, at the first visit, I felt completely confident in his diagnosis and surgical plan. I knew I had made the right decision in choosing him as my doctor. His positive outlook, focusing on what you will be able to achieve after the surgery, as opposed to focusing on limitations, really encourages you to want to recover. His staff, especially Terri, his assistant, and Jason, the physician assistant, are very helpful in addressing all your concerns. I live in the Virgin Islands but it was well worth the travel to have Dr. Lamar do my knee replacement. After 5 weeks post-op, I was able to return to most household chores, including painting! By 6 weeks post-op, I was able to return to work. I am very grateful to have found someone with his level of expertise and will recommend Dr. Lamar to all my patients.
From the minute I arrived in Dr. Lamar’s office I was treated with kindness, professionalism. I was completely satisfied with Dr. Lamar’s care of me. I had two knee replacements that were done wonderfully. I was back to work with my first knee surgery in 3 weeks and my second knee surgery I was back to work in 2 and a half weeks. I have told all my friends that are thinking about having knee surgery or need to see an Orthopedic to see Dr. Lamar at Coastal Orthopedics. He is the best!
The Doctor came well recommended. I went for my operation with these following items: A positive attitude, a well-recommended Doctor, an outstanding Physical Therapy department and a Coach (my Wife). The outcome was as expected, out of the hospital in two nights, a graduation from therapy on time and I was way ahead of others that were operated on about the same time. Driving early, biking in less than three weeks and into the pool when authorized. Now scheduled for the left knee!!!!
Dr. Lamar is a good surgeon – Number 1. My experience with him was informative, caring & encouraging when I saw him for the first time to discuss the real possibility of a hip replacement. I was an OR nurse so had some real concerns as I had many times been in the OR, but not as a patient. He was thorough in his explanation of the procedure and comforting to me as I voiced how scared I was to be the patient this time. My recovery was great & I owe a lot of that to the fact that I had a good doctor.
From the initial consult to the post-op (total hip replacement) visit, and every contact with hospital staff at every level in between, I was treated with respect, empathy, and the perfect blend of seriousness and humor. The surgical and healing model developed by Dr. Lamar and his professional staff leads to a quicker and healthier recovery than was expected just a couple years ago. I was doing laps around the ortho floor with a cane the afternoon of my surgery and was discharged the next AM.

I found Dr. Lamar, as well as his entire team, to be friendly, professional, and efficient. I highly recommend Dr. Lamar, in fact, I will be seeing him soon to schedule my other knee operation.

I was referred to Dr. Lamar after a misdiagnosis by 2 other orthopedists. Dr. Lamar was extremely knowledgeable and thorough in his examination and the treatment I received. He talks to you in a pleasant and polite manner and never condescending. I would recommend Dr. Lamar to anyone looking for a competent, skilled and knowledgeable physician. His staff was also very helpful and polite.
Dr. Lamar’s knowledge & expertise is outstanding. He & his staff prepared me & my family prior to my hip replacement surgery with a very knowledgeable joint class. The care I received in the 3 days I stayed at their facility was impeccable. The nurses provided great care & attentiveness. The therapists provided the necessary strength training & exercises for my recovery. I am very grateful to them. I am on the road to living pain-free & to have my active lifestyle back.
I would certainly continue to choose Dr. Lamar. He actually listens! He is pleasant, direct, explains his findings, offers options and guides you through surgery and recovery. I had a total knee replacement 6 months ago and it is a great success. Returning to an active lifestyle is wonderful!. I am forever grateful to Dr. Lamar.
