I had Dr. Schafer for my broken Fibula and Holly as his assistant. They were both awesome. I received not only great treatment but Holly always made me laugh. My x-ray technician was awesome too. I did not have long waits anytime during my 3-month treatment. I give them all 5 stars and a huge thanks for making such a difficult time easy.

Let me start by saying that I have had a long lifetime of surgeries from various accidents and general poor luck. Of all the experiences I can remember, this might be best one I have ever had from start to finish. The women at the front desk were warm, welcoming, helpful, kind and even willing to help me fill out my paperwork given the condition my dominate arm was in. Tresta, Dr. Schafer’s assistant/RMA was friendly and genuine. She made me feel comfortable about the upcoming surgery and the idea that paperwork would be completed accurately and with little effort on my part. My favorite employee was probably Tre(y) – sorry that I don’t remember the correct spelling of your name, sir. He was as polite as a person could be, respectful, and held a great conversation with me as he was helping put on a fresh splint. Even more, which is beyond surprising, I wasn’t too comfortable in the first split and he – even without being prompted – redid the entire thing enthusiastically because he wanted me to be as comfortable as I could be. Hats off, sir. You made my day so much better, and that’s saying a lot from a guy who had a detached tendon and was in terrible pain. Holly, the P.A. – you were wonderful, too. You answered my questions, had a solid sense of humor, treated me with respect, and spoke to me at the perfect level for my general education, but lack of knowledge in terms of anatomy. Also, I learned something about bicep functioning in the process which is pretty cool. And finally, Dr. Schafer – he did a great job on the surgery. I only met him once, but he had a sort of “quirky” charm that I’ve grown to expect from surgeons. Thank you all of you – you’ve done good work and put this therapist well on his way back to getting back to the job he really misses.

    Justin L.,

Had meniscus tear at root. Goal was to try and fix. I had surgery 12/26/19 and unable to fix due severe arthritis and no good cartilage but cleaned/trimmed meniscus. Surgery center was very clean, everyone was nice and helpful. Wound healed nicely. Dr. Schafer listens and takes time to help you. He was not offended by the many questions I had. Tresta is amazing and aftercare with Holly has been a great experience. Unfortunately, I will need a knee replacement soon and will use Dr. Schafer and team again!

    Rita D.,

My experience with Dr. Schafer was fantastic. He ordered an MRI right away which is what the previous doctor SHOULD have done and saw a foreign body in my knee. Did surgery to remove it and clean up the meniscus and the leg is brand new! Thank you!

    Kathy H.,

Dr. Schafer has taken great care of me for many years. I greatly respect his approach in that he is not quick to recommend surgery as a first solution. No, he suggested PT, medication, and injections before we talked about surgery on my right shoulder, I have since gone back to Dr. Schafer to help with my left shoulder as well. Thank you, Dr. Schafer. I am as good as new!

I can’t say enough about the great experience I had with Dr. Schafer and Coastal Orthopedics with my shoulder surgery. From the receptionists, who were always friendly and willing to help, to the rockstar physical therapists who were committed to getting my shoulder back to functioning at a high level.

Dr. Schafer was great! I hope I don’t have needs for an orthopedic doctor, but if I did, I would not think twice about asking for help from him!

Dr. Schafer and Holly Stump, PA provided excellent care for my rotator cuff surgery. Dr. S accurately diagnosed my injury and set an appropriate course from the surgery to follow up care for me. I had all of my follow up visits with Holly and she was outstanding.  I never felt rushed and she explains the process very well. Both welcome questions. I highly recommend this team. I am well on my way to a successful recovery. I made the right decision to have the surgery.

Very pleased with all staff and services.

    Fantastic Surgery Team!

I received the best care I could have asked for from Dr. Schafer and Holly, PA. They made the surgery and recovery a breeze. Clinic staff was friendly and efficient. Holly was great about answering my questions and keeping me informed and Dr.Schafer was always available when needed.

    Tylar L.,

Dr. Schafer and Holly were FANTASTIC throughout the entire knee surgery process with our son. They both were empathetic, patient, well versed, and very professional! We would recommend Dr. Schafer and his team to ALL in need of surgery!

Dr. Schafer and his entire staff are wonderful! Dr. Schafer is very thorough, genuinely concerned about you as a patient, takes a lot of time to answer y our questions and concerns, and is a wonderful surgeon. He is very caring and has passed this level of professionalism along to all of his staff. Phone calls are answered promptly, the waiting time is minimal. I cannot say enough good things about this doctor and his practice. Therapy staff is A++ also. All of my experiences have been A++.

He is great…I had a very interesting and difficult case of a badly messed up knee due to a fall, he was very thorough in making a decision on treatment, you can tell he really cares and wants what is best for you. The last thing he wanted to do was make my life harder by putting me through surgery and having a longer recovery times and I am grateful he found a better way to deal with it.

Dr. Schaffer and his staff did an excellent job in repairing my torn rotator cuff on August 29, 2018. In fact, within 1 day I was completely pain-free and remained pain-free ever since even throughout physical therapy. In fact, I did so well in therapy that I was released to full duty on my job that requires me to lift heavy objects. I most definitely would recommend Dr. Schafer to anyone that requires this type of surgery.

    Willie A.,

Great doc and Tresta, his assistant is amazing! They went out of their way to help me. Even the staff at the hospital where I had my surgery said that Dr. Schafer is one of their favorites. He may not have a comedic banter with patients, but he is kind and knowledgeable which is what I look for in a physician.

    Windy M.,

My experience with Dr. Schafer has been excellent. From diagnosis, through surgery, and into post-op, Dr.Schafer has clearly communicated the details and next steps to complete the journey. I would highly recommend his expertise to anyone.

Very caring and thorough. He spent a lot of time with me going over all my options. Did not try to push me into surgery until all my other options had been explored and exhausted.

Rotator cuff repair, excellent results. The team PA Holly and DA Tresta are courteous and follow up on requests for service providing excellent care.

Dr. Schafer is an excellent surgeon. He repaired my rotator cuff; left shoulder. He takes pride in his work and always does his absolute best. He has vast knowledge and recall of that is excellent.

Excellent. I just had a second surgery for a torn rotator cuff (2nd shoulder) and the experience was excellent. I have little to no pain and based on the first surgery I expect a rapid recovery.
