BRADENTON, Fla. — Dr. R. Stephen Otte, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder and elbow at Coastal Orthopedics, a full-service provider of comprehensive orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, spine care, diagnostic imaging and physical therapy service, recently wrapped up his participation as an on-site tournament orthopedic surgeon for the 2026 Senior PGA Championship at The Concession Golf Club.
During the week of April 16-19, 2026, Dr. Otte was tasked with providing orthopedic medical care and issues as they arose to players, caddies, family and spectators.
“It was an honor to provide on-site medical care for such an elite group of professional athletes and witnessing the world’s top senior golfers compete on my home course,” said Dr. Otte. “At Coastal Orthopedics, we strive to bring the same level of dedication, precision and passion that these players have, to every patient we serve.”
This year’s event launched a three-year stretch for the Senior PGA Championship to be contested at The Concession Golf Club. In addition to championship golf, the historic major will provide a variety of experiences with a family-friendly atmosphere for the next two championship events.
The Concession Golf Club has already held two notable events, both of which Dr. Otte has offered his expertise for, including the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship and the 2023 World Champions Cup.
“Cooper Family Medical was in charge of the entire medical staff and volunteers,” said Dr. Otte. “Between my previous involvement with events held here, as well as my relationship with Cooper Family Medical and The Concession Golf Club, they asked if I wanted to be involved this year. As a member at the club myself, I jumped at the opportunity.”
Dr. Otte has a robust background in working with athletes. Earlier this month, he served as the on-site physician for the Elizabeth Moore Sarasota Open for the fifth year in a row, and while in fellowship, he helped take care of several professional Chicago sports teams, including the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Fire.
