About Dr. Otte
Dr. R. Stephen Otte is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder and elbow. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree and received his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Nebraska before completing his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Spectrum Health through Michigan State University. Following residency, he went on to complete a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the prestigious Midwest Orthopaedics at RUSH in Chicago, Illinois.
With a focus on shoulder and elbow pathology, Dr. Otte sees patients of all ages, treating conditions such as rotator cuff injuries, arthritis of the shoulder and elbow, rotator cuff tear arthropathy, shoulder instability, labral tears, biceps tendonitis, medial/lateral epicondylitis, as well as fractures of the shoulder and elbow. Dr. Otte has a specific interest in complex rotator cuff management and joint replacement of the shoulder.
Dr. Otte has written several book chapters covering topics such as rotator cuff tears, reverse shoulder replacement, and shoulder reconstruction. He has also published papers in several peer-reviewed journals, including the prestigious Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and his research has been presented at numerous national and international meetings. Dr. Otte has worked as the head physician for the PGA Tour at the WGC Championship at The Concession as well as the 2022-2024 ATP Sarasota Open professional tennis tournament. While in fellowship, he helped take care of several professional Chicago sports teams such as the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Fire.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, playing golf, traveling, and following his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers.
