SARASOTA, Fla. — Coastal Orthopedics, a full-service provider of comprehensive orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, spine care, diagnostic imaging and physical therapy service, recently had four of its physicians speak at the 9th annual Gulfcoast Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Conference on Saturday, August 23 at The Ritz Carlton in Sarasota.
The annual event is designed to bring orthopaedic surgeons, physical and occupational therapists together in an educational forum. Through a series of didactic lectures, leading area surgeons discussed the treatment of various upper and lower extremity conditions, and the role physical and occupational therapy plays in the management of these disorders.
During session two, Dr. Stephen Otte, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder and elbow, led a 15-minute meeting covering rotator cuff tears and how he fixes and rehabilitates them. Dr. Otte has a specific interest in complex rotator cuff management and joint replacement of the shoulder and has written several book chapters covering topics such as rotator cuff tears, reverse shoulder replacement and shoulder reconstruction.
In session three, three more physicians from Coastal Orthopedics also led discussions.
Dr. Eric Sundberg, a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in surgery of spine, discussed treatment options surrounding pediatric spondylolysis. He focuses his practice on treating patients with back and neck problems that may be the result of degenerative conditions or spinal deformities.
Following Dr. Sundberg, Dr. Dan Lamar, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, took the stage to speak to treatment options and rehabilitation for articular cartilage injuries of the knee. Dr. Lamar has special interest in total joint replacement, cartilage rejuvenation and arthroscopy.
Dr. Joshua Greenspoon, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of hip and knee arthritis with joint replacement surgery, was the last physician from Coastal Orthopedics to speak, covering robotic technologies in total joint replacement.
